This small extension to a 1970s Oakland Hills residence houses a new home gym. Located at the southwest corner of the rear yard, the addition allows the house to reach outward, capturing the end of the terrace and forming an interface between interior and exterior space.

Facing north toward the hillside, the design maximizes glazing to bring in abundant natural light. A full-height mirrored eastern wall reflects the surrounding landscape and daylight back into the room, extending the sense of space and reinforcing the connection between inside and outside.
